Stunning landmark aquarium is first for 17 years

Australia yesterday opened its first major public aquarium in 17 years, with Tourism Minister Steven Ciobo declaring the Cairns Aquarium and Reef Research Centre officially open.

The new aquarium houses 15,000 fish and aquatic animals native to Tropical North Queensland across 71 live exhibits. Backers of the project say it will be a significant revenuegenerating attraction for northern Australia, spurring substantial economic development, boosting visitor numbers and increasing visitor spend, visitor nights and return visitation.

THE Queensland Govt yesterday confirmed Air China would begin flying from Beijing to Brisbane by the end of the year, providing a $200 million injection for the state’s economy.
Air China’s newest int’l route was exclusively foreshadowed by Travel Daily last month and will operate four times weekly, beginning in early Dec.

Monaco Week in Sydney celebrates milestone

Monaco and Australia are celebrating 10 years of diplomatic relations with ‘Monaco Week’ in Sydney, running until next Monday, 25 September 2017.
Media got a taste of the festivities at Sydney’s Park Hyatt on Monday evening. Monaco’s Ambassador to Australia, Catherine Fautrier, launched a dedicated series of events to mark a decade of diplomatic links, focusing on environmental, business, tourism, cultural and philanthropic links between the two countries.
